Attsu 1 - 5 Pirate Reserves

With a 5 game winning streak under their belts the Pirates reserves were keen to end the season on a high. A bare-bone squad saw yet another changed line-up face an ever-steady Attsu side. The last encounter was hard-faught with the reserves only scrapping through 3-2 at the very end.

The pirates found themselves with lots of possesion with the midfield aloud to play and dance with the ball. Joe was outstanding, linking up with Wes on the left and Jordan on his own up front. Sorry, that's Deco, Joe Cole & Drogba. Defender Adam Brookes decided to call everyone by his Chelsea heros before kick off. It lasted five minutes but helped spirits. The only thing the these tricky premiership wannabes couldn't do was hit the target!!

Real Bulwell 2 - 4 Wollaton Pirates Reserves

Wollaton Pirates looked to get back to winning ways against a much improved Real Bulwell side having done the double over Real Bulwell this season already. The game was to be played on a rubber crum pitch, it was many of the players first time on this surface. Wollaton Pirates settled into the game quickly putting some nice one and two touch passing moves together and created a few chances. The breakthrough came after 25 minutes when Joe Holmes recieved the ball in midfield and took it past three Bulwell players and hit an inch perfect shot which lobbed the keeper who was on his line. Wollaton Pirates then seemed to sit back and let Bulwell attack but with some solid defending and good tracking back from midfield Bulwell never really created any clear cut chances. Wollatons only other clear cut chance of the remainder of the half was Adam Brookes header that rattled the cross bar, 1-0 at the break.

Caythorpe 3 - 2 Reserves

The Reserves suffer their successive defeat in as many weeks to Caythorpe

Unlike last week however, the Pirates competed in all areas of the pitch. The early chances fell to the Pirates and they could have gone ahead early on.

Caythorpe took the lead, but the sides were soon level again from a corner that may have come off a Caythorpe defender (although I think Johnny may try and claim it).

The Pirates slump to their second successive defeat without scoring a goal.

The game started fairly evenly with both teams having early chances. it wasn't until mid way through the first half that Caythorpe took the lead with a bit of slack defending from the Pirates.

Caythorpes second cam minutes later with a quick break down their right.

Bulwell 2 Pirate Reserves 3

Never one to look a gift horse in the mouth, here's Mark Jordan's match report that he posted on the forum. It is all about Mark but what do you expect?!? Sufficed to say he missed out the two goal line clearances from Paul Gawne who filled in at left back, he also forgot to mention that I got hilariously nut-megged and then shimmied by a guy twice as heavy as me.  I lost my voice as I tried desperately to install some spirit into the boys which i think helped but it was windy so maybe everyone pretended not to hear! I think Luke's goal's were both 25-yarders too so Mark got that wrong!! Notible mentions to Ben for hitting it straight at the keeper to allow luke to open the game up. To Chris for working his bloody socks off and doing a really fine job with Wayne in midfield. Bacon and Wes faught till the end on the wings and Sam and Mark who filled in at centre back did a fantastic job.

Well done boys, you played brilliantly in that second half.

Corinthians 1 - 5 Wollaton Pirates Reserves

A dominating first half performance was enough to see Wollaton Pirates Reserves continue their 5 game winning streak.

Wollaton Pirates Reserves produced an outstanding first half performance that earned them a 5-0 lead at the break despite having a few regulars out again this week. Pirates started much the brighter of the two teams, creating a number of chances. It wasn't long until Ben Greenhalgh found the back of the net after a stinging Mark Jordan effort was parried by the keeper. The rest of the first 45 minutes was spent almost exclusively in the Corinthians half but when the ball entered the Pirates half the ever reliable back four were there to clear it up and not give the Corinthian strikers a look in. Mark Jordan chipped in with his usual hat-trick to take his total to 22. Ben Greenhalgh grabbed himself a second to give a five goal lead at half time.

Pirate Reserves 11 - 0 Toton

Wollaton Pirates Reserves took to the field to face Toton Athletic in their 5th EMPAL game of the season. With a much changed side to the team that beat Toton in a pre season friendly 11-3 the Pirates looked fired up for this game knowing if they ere on their game they could produce a convincing victory.

The conditions were great for a Sunday league football match, Wet and Windy with a sloping pitch. The game started very well for the Pirates having most of the posession and creating a number of chances, the only thing that was missing was the Pirates shooting boots which they seemed to have left at home, Adma Brookes, Scott Hardy and Mark Jordon all coming close early on.

An all round great performance by Wollaton Pirates Reserves as the recorded their second EMPAL win.

The Pirates took to the field with a slightly changed side to the one which lost against St. Annes. Two débutantes took to the field, Scott Warrad in goal and Wayne Smith made up the 5th member or a very strong and tricky midfield.

After a dismal first half performance the Pirates reserves found themselves 4-0 down at half time, St Anns where given too much respect and they were playing some good football. Something ticked in the second half which saw 6 goals from both teams, 4 from which were from the Pirates. The game ended 6-4, a throughly impressive second half from the reserves earned the respect of St Anns who notioned that we had given them a proper game of football. Full match report to follow.

Watermill 4 - 3 Pirate Reserves

The first cup tie of the season saw the reserve team leave for Newark from the car park of Hooters! A jovial affair reflected the mood. Just before we left we had found out it would be an 11 man team facing Watermill after Ben our tricky footed winger let us down for the second time in two weeks! We already knew it was going to be difficult with all of our back four completely different from our previous bashing of Bullwell 8-1 (match report pending)
